1. The rules of competition at INDONESIA ROBOT OLYMPIAD 2009 are constituted by the
INDONESIA ROBOT OLYMPIAD committee (“the committee” in the following paragraphs), and are
only applicable during this tournament.
• A surprise additional rule will be announced on the morning of the competition.
Peraturan pertandingan untuk INDONESIA ROBOT OLYMPIAD 2009 di buat oleh panitia IRO
dan hanya berlaku selama pertandingan berlangsung.
• Jika ada peraturan tambahan maka akan diumumkan sebelum pertandingan dimulai.
2. Qualification for participation and team composition
a. Age of participants
Elementary School The elementary school students who were born after 1 January 1997
Junior High School The junior high school students who were born between 1 January 1994
and 31 December 1996
High School The high school students who were born between 1 January 1990 and
31 December 1993
b. Team composition
A team consists of 1 coach and 2 or 3 contestants.
Kualifikasi peserta pertandingan :
a. Usia peserta
Elementary : Pelajar yang lahir setelah tanggal 1 Januari 1997
Junior high : Pelajar yang lahir antara tanggal 1 Januari 1994 dan 31 Desember 1996
High school : Pelajar yang lahir antara tanggal 1 Januari 1990 dan 31 Desember 1993
b. Komposisi tim
Satu tim terdiri dari 2 atau 3 murid dan 1 guru.
3. Material
a. Except for specific designations in competition rules, materials used to assemble their robots,
including controller, must be from LEGO® MINDSTORMSTM RCX and/or LEGO®
MINDSTORMSTM Education NXT sets. Control programs must be ROBOLAB or LEGO®
MINDSTORMSTM NXT software (Education version). A team using materials and control
programs that are not approved by the committee will be disqualified at that match.
Komponen yang diijinkan untuk membuat robot termasuk kontrolernya harus dari LEGO®
MINDSTORMS™ Education NXT. Dan Program yang di gunakan harus LEGO®
MINDSTORMS™ NXT software (Education version). Panitia berhak
mendiskualifikasikan tim yang menggunakan komponen di luar dari yang di ijinkan.
b. Teams should prepare and bring all the equipment, software and portable computers they need
during the tournament.
Setiap tim harus mempersiapkan dan membawa semua perlengkapan. software dan
LAPTOP pribadi.
c. Teams should bring enough spare parts. Even in the case of any accidents or equipment
malfunction, the committee is not responsible for their maintenance or replacement. Coaches are
not allowed to enter the court for any instructions and guidance during competition.
Setiap tim harus membawa komponen yang cukup, jika ada hal yang tidak diinginnkan,
misalnya komponen patah atau rusak, maka panitia tidak akan bertanggung jawab untuk
menggantikan komponen tersebut (Panitia tidak menyediakan komponen ekstra).
d. All the parts for the robot should be in the initial states (not pre-built) when the assemble time
starts. For example, a tire cannot be put on a wheel until assemble time begins. Competitors may
not use any instruction sheets or written, illustrated or pictorial. Contestants may make the
program beforehand.
Semua komponen harus dalam keadaan tidak terpasang sebelum pertandingan. Contoh,
karet ban tidak bole di pasang ke velg sebelum pertandingan dimulai. Peserta juga tidak
di ijinkan untuk membawa ataupun menggunakan buku instruksi, dan gambar
pembuatan robot.
e. Robots are not allowed to use screws, glues or tape to fasten any
components. Non-compliance with these rules will result in
disqualification.
Robot tidak diperbolehkan menggunakan Baut dan mur, karet non-lego, lem atau selotip
untuk memperkuat komponen. Pelanggaran peraturan ini akan di diskualifikasi
f. The motors and the sensors for the robot are supplied by LEGO, as shown in Figure 1. Any thirdparty
products are not acceptable. Teams are not allowed to modify any original parts (for
example: RCX, NXT, motor, and sensors, etc). A robot made with modified parts will be
disqualified at that match.
Motor dan sensor yang digunakan adalah dari produk LEGO, selain itu tidak di ijinkan.
Semua komponen Kontroler NXT, Motor dan sensor tidak boleh di modifikasi untuk

4. Regulations about robot
Peraturan tentang robot
a. The maximum dimensions of the robot before it starts must be within 250 mm Ă— 250 mm Ă—250
mm. After robot starts, the dimension of the robot is not restricted.
Dimensi Robot adalah 25cm x 25cm x 25cm. Setelah start ukuran robot tidak dibatasi.
b. Teams are allowed only one controller (RCX or NXT).
Kontroler robot hanya satu (NXT atau RCX).
c. Amounts of motors and sensors are not restricted. (see below the picture1. IRO 2009 Eligible
motor and sensor for regular)

d. Any actions or movements by the participants are not allowed to interfere or assist the robot while
it is running. Teams that violate this rule will be disqualified at that match.
Ketika robot sedang berjalan, peserta tidak boleh melakukan tindakan apapun untuk
membantu robot tersebut. Pelanggaran peraturan ini akan di diskualifikasi
e. A robot must be autonomous and finish the missions by itself. Any radio communication, remote
control and wired control systems are not allowed while the robot is running. Teams in violation
of this rule will be disqualified and must quit the competition immediately.
Robot harus bergerak secara otomatis dan finish sendiri, segala jenis komunikasi tidak di
ijinkan selama robot berjalan.
f. If robot is equipped with NXT as a controller, the Bluetooth function must be switched off and
downloading programs must be done through USB cable.
Jika robot menggunakan NXT maka fungsi Bluetooth harus di nonaktifkan.
5. Prior to competition
a. Each team can prepare for the match in their specified place until the check time. And team can't
touch the competition court before announcing assemble time starts.
Setiap tim harus bersiap-sedia pada tempat yang telah ditentukan oleh panitia sebelum
Waktu pengecekan. Dan tidak boleh menyentuh arena pertandingan sebelum di
beritahukan.
b. Judges will check the states of parts before announcing assemble time starts, and teams must show
their parts separated. Teams cannot touch parts and PC during this check time.
juri akan memeriksa kembali komponen peserta sebelum pertandingan di mulai, dan tim
harus memperlihatkan komponen mereka telah terpisah. Tim juga tidak boleh
menggunakan LAPTOP selama masa pengecekan.
c. The assemble time doesn't begin until the committee announces it.
Waktu pertandingan akan dimulai melalui aba-aba dari panitia.
6. Competition
a. Competition will last for 3 hours covering the assembly time and the competition itself.
Kompetisi berlangsung selama 3 jam termasuk waktu konstruksi dan kompetisi itu
sendiri.
b. During the 3 hours, participants are allowed to collect as much as possible points from available
tracks.
Selama 3 Jam, semua tim dapat mengumpulkan poin sebanyak-banyaknya dari 2 arena
yang tersedia.
c. The point collection period will end 3 hours later.
Pengumpulan poin berakhir setelah 3 jam
d. Teams who are prepared to try the track can directly collect the points by reporting for judgments
to the track judges and will be noted.
Tim yang telah siap untuk mencoba dan mengumpulkan poin dapat langsung melaporkan
kepada juri di arena tersebut untuk di catat poinnya
e. The Score form is only available for 20 slot. That mean each team has only 20 chance to get the
score.
Form penilaian hanya tersedia 20 slot. Jadi harus di pergunakan dengan sebaikbaiknya.
f. Each team is allowed to retrying the available tracks, but the legitimate point will always be
taken from the last try (even though the previous point is higher then the last).
Setiap tim boleh mencoba ulang arena, tetapi poin yang sah adalah yang terakhir di
dapatkan (meskipun poin sebelumnya lebih tinggi dari yang terakhir).
7. Court
a. Team must assemble their robot in an area designated by the tournament (each team has its own
area). Other people are not allowed to enter the competition area except contestants, IRO
organizing committee staff and special personnel.
Tim harus membuat robot di area yang telah ditentukan. Orang lain tidak di ijinkan
masuk kedalam area ini kecuali perserta kompetisi, Panitia, dan VIP.
b. The standard of all competition materials and courts are according to what are provided by the
committee on the competition day.
Arena akan di sediakan oleh panitia IRO.
8. Prohibited Matters
a. Destruction of competition courts, materials or robots of other teams.
Merusak Arena pertandingan, ataupun merusak robot tim lain.
b. Use of dangerous items or behaviors that may cause interference.
Mengunakan benda yang berbahaya yang dapat menyebabkan kekacauan.
c. Inappropriate words and/or behavior toward other teams, audience, judges or staff.
Mengucapkan kata-kata yang tidak pantas/tidak sopan kepada tim lain, penonton, juri,
dan panitia.
d. Bringing a cellular phone or a medium of wire/wireless communication or drink or food in the
court
Membawa makanan dan minuman atau handphone ke dalam arena.
e. Any communication devices and methods are strictly prohibited while the competition is in
process. Anyone outside the competition area is also banned from talking to or communicating
with contestants. Teams violating this rule will be considered as disqualified and should quit the
competition immediately. If communication is necessary, the committee may allow team members
to communicate with others under supervision by tournament staff or by exchanging a note under
permission by judges.
Tidak diijinkan komunikasi dari luar arena ke dalam arena (peserta)
f. In any other situation which judges might consider as interference or violation of the spirits of the
competition.
Situasi yang dimana menurut Juri dapat menimbulkan gangguan dan kekacauan yang
menlanggar semangat kompetisi
9. The judges have final authority during the tournament
Juri memiliki otoritas penuh selama pertandingan berlangsung. Keputusan juri tidak dapat di
ganggu gugat. Meskipun juri melihat video ulang, juri tidak boleh mengubah keputusannya.
10. Disagreements, Complaints, or appeals (all in English) must be directed to the judges before signing
the score sheet (Regular category) or before the judges leave the booth (Open Category).
Jika ada ketidaksetujuan terhadap nilai, maka harus di beritahukan sebelum nilai di catat dan
sebelum juri meninggalkan stand(open kategori).
11. In case the team cannot accept the decision of the judges, the head judge will make the final decision.
The final decision cannot be appealed or changed.
Jika ada tim yang tidak bias menerima keputusan wasit, maka keputusan akhir ditentukan
oleh Kepala Juri.
12. If a team is considered disqualified by any judges, robot of that team should quit that match
immediately, and receives no score at that match.
Jika ada tim yang di diskualifikasi oleh Juri, robot mereka harus segera keluar dari
pertandingan, dan tidak akan mendapatkan nilai pada pertandingan tersebut.
13. The committee has the right to revoke a team’s qualification if that team violates any rules.
Panitia berhak untuk mendiskualifikasikan tim yang melanggar peraturan pertandingan.
14. Any communication devices and methods are strictly prohibited while the competition is in process.
Anyone outside the competition area is also banned from talking to or communicating with
contestants. Teams violating this rule will be considered as disqualified and should quit the
competition immediately. If communication is necessary, the committee may allow team members to
communicate with others under supervision by tournament staff or by exchanging a note under
permission by judges.
Siapa saja yang berada di luar arena pertandingan dilarang berkomunikasi dengan peserta.
Jika Ada hal yang penting, panitia akan mengijinkan untuk berkomunikasi namun tetap di
bawah pengawasan panitia
15. If the competition is delayed due to unavailability of courts/models or incapability to determine scores,
judges may hold a return match, and contestants can not raise any objections. If contestants believe that
the courts or competition materials affect their score, they can address their opinions and request a
rematch on the spot. Judges then will decide whether to hold a return match. Any opinions after the
rematch will not be accepted. If a rematch is held, the score of the rematch will be the final;no matter if
the robot finished the match or not.
16. If teams have any opinions or doubts, they must address them to the judges on the spot. The judges
then must make a decision on the validity of these opinions or doubts. Any opinions addressed after the
match will not be accepted after signing. If there is any disagreement or misunderstanding of the rules,
the final decision will be made by the judges.
Jika Tim memiliki pendapat atau pertentangan, mereka harus memberitahukan kepada juri
pada saat itu juga. Juri akan segera mengambil keputusan terhadap pendapat tersebut.
Pendapat atau pertentangan setelah pertandingan tidak akan di terima. Jika ada
kesalahpahaman terhadap peraturan, maka keputusan terakhir akan di putuskan oleh juri.
17. If there is anything not be addressed or be changed by the rules, the final decision will be announced
by the judges at the tournament. The judges have the utmost authority to explain and enforce the rules.
Jika ada peraturan tambahan yang belum di cantumkan, maka akan diberitahukan pada saat
